Now Hiring: Vice President of Kaplan Acquisition

GMAT PrepWe're growing! Veritas Prep is seeking a Vice President of Kaplan Acquisition to work in our Malibu, California headquarters, on an as-yet-unnamed secret project. Veritas Prep is the largest privately owned GMAT preparation and admissions consulting company in the world. We offer our renowned GMAT courses in more than 90 cities on five continents and employ nearly 150 admissions experts from the world’s elite graduate schools.

While we cannot fully divulge the nature of this secret project, successful candidates for the Vice President of Kaplan Acquisition role will demonstrate an ability to acquire large test preparation companies. Special consideration will be given to candidates with past experience acquiring test prep companies that are owned by publicly traded, marginally profitable newspaper businesses. An ability to buy GMAT prep companies before they buy you is especially important in this role.

Veritas Prep’s international headquarters are located in a spectacular workspace that enjoys 180 degree ocean views. The culture is high energy and performance-driven, providing a superb opportunity for professionals with an entrepreneurial attitude. However, the successful candidate should be comfortable in a cramped New York City work space.

Responsibilities:
  • Acquire a large test preparation company that is currently owned by a publicly traded newspaper company

  • Devise corporate URL that does not directly include complete company name

  • Manage part-time student staff; role includes filling in for employees who call in due to hangovers

Requirements:
  • MBA from a top-ten business school strongly preferred

  • Candidates who do not have an MBA can earn one at an online university, which they may also acquire as part of this project

  • Online degrees from DeVry, University of Phoenix, and other non-newspaper-owned distance learning institutions will not be accepted

  • A preference for working with GMAT instructors who have not met a minimum score requirement on an actual GMAT

  • No actual GMAT score is necessary, but a desire to score above average on a practice test is preferred

  • Part-time, temporary availability is a plus

  • Should regularly read news publications such as Newsweek and the Washington Post

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred

Compensation:
Starting at $20 per hour; possible raise up to $25/hour for exceptional performers

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and approximate practice GMAT score to Sidd Finch at buykaplan@veritasprep.com.
